We are so excited to welcome François Philipponnat to Maison Healdsburg. François is the Export Director for Europe and the Americas, and the travelling ambassador of one of Champagne's most storied estates. He joins us with a killer lineup of his family’s Champagnes, including some of their top end bottlings, such as the Clos des Goisses. The Clos des Goisses bottling is credited as the first Champagne to showcase a single vineyard beginning with the 1935 vintage, predating Krug’s Clos du Mesnil.
Founded in 1522 when Apvril le Philipponnat planted his first vines in Aÿ, the house has for five centuries embodied the fierce particularity of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. Under Charles Philipponnat's direction since 1999, it has reclaimed its place among Champagne's absolute finest — a portfolio of wines that Peter Liem called "one of the finest in Champagne." François is the person who carries these wines to the world, and there is no one better placed to tell their story.
We are working with our dear friends from Offline to craft a killer menu to pair with these wines. Chefs Craig, Amanda, and Mel are insanely talented at matching flavors with wild creativity, we can’t wait to taste the dishes with these incredible wines.
